Authors I enjoy:
My Number One favorite author right now is Diana Gabaldon, creator of the Outlander and Lord John series. I love the way she writes, and appreciate the research she puts into every word. I will read anything she writes!
I have treasured the works of Wilbur Smith for years. He writes sweeping dramas of Africa. Again, I will read anything he writes.
Valerie Fitzgerald wrote Zemindar. It is a historical novel, a grand love story set against the backdrop of the Sepoy Rebellion in India in 1857. One of my most read and reread books.
Another of my favorite authors is Daphne du Maurier. Rebecca is at the top of the list!
I love the short stories of O. Henry.
Common rereads for me are Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, and Pride and Prejudice. Anything by the Bronte sisters or Jane Austen.
Steinbeck, Faulkner, Harper Lee, and the list goes on and on.
Dystopian things like Animal Farm, 1984, and Lord of the Flies appeal to me as well. I love science fiction (I’m a Trekkie), both in the distant future or the distant past, especially if there is a dragon involved.
I will read almost anything and I particularly like writers like James Patterson and Margaret Attwood, John Grisham and Steven King, Tennessee Williams, and Agatha Christy.
I read ancient Greek and Roman works by the likes of Euripides, Aristotle, Aeschylus, and Aristophanes.
I love poetry though I cannot write it. My favorite is Thanatopsis by Willian Cullen Bryant.
